Policy Briefing at the Mexican Senate: Toward Stronger Arab–Latin American Cooperation
A delegation from the Andalus Committee had the immense honor of being received in the Mexican Senate by Senator Alejandro Murat Hinojosa, President of the Foreign Relations Commission, and Senator Yeidckol Polevnsky Gurwitz, President of the Asia-Pacific Commission, to present the recommendations of our 2024 Annual Report on Arab–Latin American cooperation.
During our exchange, we had the opportunity to discuss the immense potential for closer ties between Latin America and the MENA region, as well as Mexico's role as a potential bridge-builder. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Mexican Senate, and to supporting it in its efforts to diversify its diplomatic ties, especially with the Arab world.
We are also pleased to officially announce the opening of our Latin American Research Center, chaired by its new Regional Director Santiago Reséndez Quijano, who will be responsible for overseeing coordination with institutional and civil actors in the region.
This meeting marks the first stage of our visit to Mexico City. Our heartfelt thanks to the Mexican Senate and to Senators Murat and Polevnsky for their welcome, their attentiveness and their willingness to work with us in greater depth.
