Institutional Engagement in Mexico: High-Level Dialogue with Key National Institutions
The second leg of our visit to Mexico City took us to the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs and the Matías Romero Institute, where we had the pleasure of presenting our 2024 annual report on Arab–Latin American cooperation.
We had enriching discussions to refine our policy recommendations with Enrique Gomez Montiel, Director for Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia; Carlos Imanol Belausteguigoitia, Director for Central America and the Caribbean; and Ambassador Ricardo Pineda Albarrán of the Matias Romero Institute. These meetings were highly productive and reflect a growing momentum to strengthen ties between both regions through a CELAC–Arab League framework. We also had the opportunity to visit the Senate and Supreme Court of Mexico, as well as Universidad Iberoamericana, where we held discussions toward signing a cooperation protocol for the opening of our Latin American research center.
We extend our sincere thanks to Directors Gomez and Belausteguigoitia, Ambassador Pineda, and the teams at the Secretariat of External Relations, the Senate, the Matias Romero Institute, and the Supreme Court. We are also grateful to our delegation members — Azzedine Lahlou, Martina de Pablo, Ines Jabri, and Santiago Reséndez Quijano — as well as Achilles Tsirgis for their remarkable work, and to Javier Quijano for the photos. We remain fully committed to deepening Arab–Latin American relations and unlocking their vast potential!
