Ongoing conflicts in the Red Sea and Sahel corridor undermine regional stability, disrupt trade in resource-rich areas, and pose escalating security risks. A joint EU-UAE initiative on conflict mediation and post-conflict reconstruction offers a strategic opportunity for the UAE to deepen its regional influence while advancing long-term peace and development. Specifically, this paper argues that their complementary capacities make strategic cooperation both viable and mutually beneficial. It proposes the establishment of a joint mediation task force, the creation of an EU-UAE reconstruction and development fund, and closer counterterrorism collaboration that draws on EU governance expertise and Emirati operational capabilities.
