This policy report, released by the Andalus Committee’s Paris Office, examines France’s engagement with Central Asia in the context of evolving global geopolitics and regional strategic dynamics. It analyses the diplomatic, economic, and infrastructural factors shaping French relations with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, highlighting the region’s growing importance as an economic and logistical hub. The report explores key drivers, including the reconfiguration of transport corridors following the war in Ukraine, Central Asia’s connectivity with East Asia through China’s Belt and Road Initiative, and the region’s critical role in energy and resource flows. It concludes with policy recommendations to strengthen France’s strategic presence, support regional stability, and promote sustainable development, enabling a forward-looking and pragmatic approach to engagement in Eurasia.
